The Future Leaders Awards program is brought to you in partnership with Homecare Homebase.

Megan Paske, Senior Director of Client Success at Axxess, has been named a 2025 Future Leader by Home Health Care News.

To become a Future Leader, an individual is nominated by their peers. The candidate must be a high-performing employee who is 40 years of age or younger, a passionate worker who knows how to put vision into action, and an advocate for seniors, and the committed professionals who ensure their well-being.

Paske sat down with Home Health Care News to share what drew her to the home health & home care industry, the biggest leadership lessons she has learned, her thoughts on the future of home health & home care, and much more. HHCN: What drew you to the home health & home care industry?

Paske: I have always had a love for people and a deep interest in healthcare. In college, I quickly realized that hands-on patient care was not the right fit for me when, during a PA program, the sight of blood made me light-headed. But I knew I wanted to find some way to make a difference. While in graduate school, I was hired as a sales representative for Lincare Home Infusion, where we provided home infusion for critically ill patients and that’s where I quickly fell in love with the care in the home space.

HHCN: What’s your biggest leadership lesson learned since starting to serve this industry?

Paske: A title does not make someone a leader. True leadership is about sharing a vision and creating a safe, collaborative environment where your team feels empowered to work together and achieve goals.

HHCN: If you could change one thing with an eye toward the future of the home health & home care industry, what would it be?

Paske: I would invest more in developing people at every level of home health and home care. When caregivers and leaders are equipped with the right tools, training, and support, they not only provide better care, but also find greater fulfillment in their work. Healthcare is a calling for so many people, so when they feel developed and supported, they’re more likely to stay involved and develop others, which ultimately will strengthen the future of the industry.

HHCN: In one word, how would you describe the future of home health & home care?

Paske: Innovative.

HHCN: If you had a crystal ball, what do you think will impact the home health & home care industry now and into 2026?

Paske: Two major factors stand out: changing reimbursement rates and the rise of artificial intelligence.

As reimbursement rates continue to shift year over year, agencies must focus on creating operational efficiencies. Artificial intelligence will drive these efficiencies and help organizations maintain healthy margins without affecting quality of care.

In many ways, I see AI as a benefit for patient care because it empowers people to focus on each other instead of remedial tasks that can bog people down and burn them out.

HHCN: In your opinion, what qualities must all Future Leaders possess?

Paske: I think Future Leaders should possess the following qualities:

  • Humility: Recognize that you won’t have all the answers and always remain open to listening to your team.
  • Grace: Understand that people make mistakes. Extend grace to others and to yourself.
  • Gratitude: Never forget those who helped shape your career, and always look for ways to pay it forward.

HHCN: If you could give advice to yourself looking back to your first day in the home health & home care industry, what would it be and why?

Paske: Do not let anyone define your career based on your education, experience, or background. Pursue your interests with confidence. Listen and learn from everyone around you, ask questions often, and remember that your path is yours to shape — not for others to limit.
